Carbon Dioxide

Carbon Dioxide is used to lower the pH and increase the alkalinity. CO2 does not corrode the storage areas as acid does, and is much safer than acid. Pools using CO2 should watch the alkalinity reading routinely to make sure the alkalinity stays under 100ppm. Some customers use both acid and CO2, via a CROSSOVER SWITCH device which allows either acid, or CO2, to be fed by the flick of a switch.
